Roxy Ball Room is coming to Merrion Street with its second party-centric gaming bar

The thriving Northern Quarter is about to up its game as city favourite Roxy Ball Room opens its third Leeds based bar on Merrion Street. The gamers paradise will be unleashed just in time for the World Cup in June and reside in the site formerly occupied by Bar Soba.

The 400k renovation will not only add a new dimension to the popular pedestrianised nightlife spot, but create 20 new jobs within the Roxy Leisure group. The refurbishment will see the downstairs area transformed into a beer pong oasis with a raucous party vibe. Expect an eclectic soundtrack of anthemic rock and indie, a bar manned by Roxy’s lightning fast bartenders, and no less than 10 beer pong battle stations for revellers to show off their sporting chops.

Head upstairs, and things will be dialled down a notch, making it the perfect retreat for private parties and serious gamers who have plenty to go at here. As well as a second bar, this floor will feature no less than 3 shuffleboards, 3 ping pong tables, 3 American pool tables and an arcade basketball game for all the slam dunkers out there, making it a space for competitive sorts to really let rip.

Roxy’s new site is also destined to be one of the city’s hottest hangout spots during the world cup with a massive projector screen showing all major games.

Sporting mecca

The sporting mecca will also house its own kitchen, which will be serving up Roxy’s signature menu of calorific American goodness, which includes pizzas, fries stacked with all the trimmings and the legendary sharer’s feast.

Beer lovers can choose from a handpicked selection of draught and bottled lagers, beers and specialist craft ales from around the world, whilst the mixture of classic and Roxy Signature cocktails will keep liquor fans from going thirsty. Designated drivers and non-drinkers can choose from a selection of moreish Mocktails.

Roxy Merrion Street is set to be the perfect spot for casual drop-ins, large groups, private parties and corporate events, with numerous gaming and dining packages available. The latest bar is the seventh of its kind in the Roxy Ball Room canon, with venues in Liverpool, Manchester, Nottingham, Huddersfield and not forgetting Roxy Lanes all enjoying success in recent years.

Operations Director John Crowe had this to say ahead of the launch:

Our new Roxy Ball Room will be in the heart of Merrion Street adding to the Rock & Indie vibe that the street is famous for. The downstairs part of our bar will have a real party vibe! That was one of the main reasons that we wanted to open up this new site. We envisage the drinkers of Leeds taking full advantage of our Beer Pong tables in the downstairs area of the venue until the early morning, rocking out to great tunes, drinking great beer and having a great time.

Upstairs will be full of bookable areas that can be hired for parties with ping pong, pool, beer pong and bank shot shuffleboards. We like to think that we know how to throw a good party! Having this additional Roxy Ball Room site as well as Roxy Lanes in Leeds means that we can cater for a lot more guests. We are hugely looking forward to getting it open now.”
