This May Bank Holiday weekend sees the return of World Island festival, for its second year!

Globe Road on Leeds’ South Bank will host the festival, taking over two car parks in Leeds City Centre, the new site, never before used for events, sits canal side just 5 minutes from Leeds Rail Station’s south entrance, Water Lane Boathouse and Granary Wharf.

The three-day festival sees the likes of Mercury award-winner Sampha, Brit-nominee Loyle Carter, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Jungle all hitting the bill, alongside a host of the hottest new talent.

You’ll also encounter the sounds of the reinvigorated British jazz scene, championed by Giles Peterson, Nubya Garcia, Ezra Collective and more.

Overall, more than 50 live acts will perform across the weekend, as well as some of Leeds’ finest DJs. A whole host of Leeds’ top foodies will also be there, cooking up a storm, including Patty Smiths, Manjit’s Kitchen, Soul Shack and plenty more.

This year’s venue is a great new site on Globe Road, in the heart of Leeds’ South Bank. The unique trispan tent is back, bringing in that carnival atmosphere, ready for a weekend of some of the most exciting music in the UK right now.

As night falls, World Island takes over the whole city with 25 further acts and ticket holders can access these free afterparties at venues across Leeds – from Belgrave Music Hall to Headrow House to Water Lane Boathouse. Performances from Leeds natives Nightmares on Wax and Bradley Zero, producer Romare, Awesome Tapes from Africa and Jungle, and more, will make sure that the party carries on well into the night…

A festival in its ascendancy, World Island is set to take the city by storm from May 25th-27th. Day tickets cost just £35, and there are (limited) weekend tickets still available, so grab one now.
