Black Music Festival 2026
A celebration of music, culture and family fun. This free, vibrant outdoor celebration honours the massive contributions of Black artists, featuring legendary and emerging talents performing reggae, dancehall, rap, grime, and R&B.
The Black Music Festival (formerly known as the Leeds Reggae Concert), is Europe’s biggest Free open-air reggae concert. The festival aims to unite people of all backgrounds, honoring the legacy of Black music while inspiring future generations. Don’t miss this unforgettable experience of culture, rhythm, and unity in the heart of Chapeltown.
The annual Leeds Reggae concert started back in 1985, to compliment the annual Leeds West Indian Carnival, (which had already been running since the 1960’s).
In 2015, after 30 years of showcasing the best international Reggae performances, (whilst later on incorporating other genres such as R&B & Hip Hop etc), the concert has now evolved into Black Music Festival.
Festival organisers Black Health Initiative (BHI) is community engagement organisation. We work to address the inequalities in Education, Health and Social Care with a range of partners from Statutory; Private and Charitable sector.
We are proud to be the organisational body for Black Music Festival and hope for the genres of music under this banner influences and promotes ownership and community cohesion, recognising the positive influence of music
