Durufle’s Requiem- a concert for remembrance
Hear Duruflé’s dramatic yet contemplative Requiem in the beautiful surroundings and acoustic of Leeds Cathedral. Performed in its original scoring for choir and organ, the Requiem offers serenity and hope through Duruflé’s tender treatment of the ancient Gregorian chants of the Mass for the Dead.
The programme also includes music by Victoria, Byrd and Vierne, placing Duruflé’s Requiem in both musical and liturgical context.
