Revolutionaries Never Die
Two months before her death in 2018, veteran Lebanese director Jocelyne Saab invited filmmaker and archivist Mohanad Yaqubi to collaborate. Revolutionaries Never Die is Yaqubi’s belated cinematic answer, imagining the conversation they never got to have.
Diving into Saab’s extraordinary archives filmed across Palestine, Lebanon, and Iran between 1973 and 1983, Yaqubi crafts a lyrical portrait of a fearless artist. Blending his own reflective voiceover with her remarkable footage of the 1970s Palestinian revolution and turbulent Lebanon, the film honours Saab’s lifelong commitment to marginalised voices and cinema’s power to bear witness.
