A new writing, film and performance project at ChapelFM Arts Centre supported by the University of Leeds Cultural Institute and the National Poetry Centre
We will be inspired by Italian poet Dante Alighieri’s poem called The Divine Comedy. Dante famously takes his readers on a journey across place and time to create a feeling that everything is connected. We will work together to create The Seacroft Canto for live performance and a documentary film.
HOW?
Kimberly Campanello has been creating her own version of Dante’s poem based on where she is from and all the places it connects to.
She will share some creative writing tips and tools she’s developed to enable us to work together to write The Seacroft Canto about Seacroft and its connection to other places. We’ll perform it live on the air.
Our creative process and the radio performance will be filmed to create a documentary film. The film will show the public what we created and how we created it. This could be interesting to people who might want to try this sort of thing for themselves. Footage from this project might also be used in a longer documentary that is being made about Kimberly Campanello’s overall work on Dante.
