History Walk- RSPB St Aidan’s
Step back in time and feel the landscape of RSPB St Aidan’s story unfold!
Join us for a guided walk where you’ll explore a former opencast mine now shaped into a calm, wildlife-rich haven. Discover the land’s journey through the ages from the Carboniferous period (~299 million years ago) to the rewilding work that turned the nature park from coal face to wild place, and marvel at ‘oddball’, the largest preserved walking dragline in Western Europe.
This peaceful experience invites a deeper connection to RSPB St Aidan’s and a chance to appreciate the rich history of the nature park. Warm up with a free hot drink after the event in the Little Owl Cafe.
