Behind the Magic: Film vs Theatre Workshop
We are teaming up with our friends at Leeds Heritage Theatres to uncover how film and theatre each work their own special kind of storytelling magic. Using the much‑loved fairy tale Beauty and the Beast, we will explore how the same story can be told in wonderfully different ways, from cinematic spectacle to theatrical enchantment.
This hands‑on workshop invites you to go behind both the curtain and camera, comparing the creative devices that bring stories to life. From setting the scene and building unforgettable characters to the powerful role of music and sound, you’ll discover how filmmakers and theatre‑makers captivate audiences in their own unique ways.
We have two workshops available for the following age groups:
10:30 – 6 +
14:00 – 9 +
This workshop incorporates a free ticket to attend our screening of the Disney Classic, Beauty and the Beast at 12:30 either before or after your workshop.
This workshop and screening are in celebration of the Leeds Grand Youth Theatre’s upcoming performance of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast this July.
This workshop is designed for young participants to attend independently. All bookers will receive a consent form prior to the workshop that must be completed by the young participant’s parent or guardian prior to the event. This information is used to enable us to engage safely with participants and to contact parents/guardians if required.
Tickets are £6 per young person, 20 places are available per workshop.
