Flowers Band
Based in Gloucester, the Flowers Band was formed in 1968 following the disbandment of the Royal Gloucestershire Hussars (Territorial Army) Brass Band. Bandmaster Eric Hopkins and his players negotiated with the Ministry of Defence to purchase the instruments and form the City of Gloucester Band. The band became known as Flowers Band because of the Flowers Brewery sponsorship from 1986–2005, and following a three-year period as the Polysteel Band, reverted to Flowers in 2008. In April 2026, Flowers Band, conducted by Paul Holland, won the European Brass Band Championships, marking the band’s first ever European title.
