Josie and the Pussycats
Gather your friends, cats and kitties and celebrate this classic on its 25th anniversary.
Adapted from Dan DeCarlo’s 1960s comic-strip creation, Josie and the Pussycats is a candy- coloured satire disguised as a teen pop movie, gleefully taking aim at consumer culture and the music industry. Rachel Leigh Cook leads the trio with charm, while Parker Posey (THE Party Girl herself!) sinks her claws into every scene as a delightfully deranged villain. The film’s early noughties aesthetic is both a time capsule and a meta-commentary, overflowing with product placement used as punchline. From box-office flop to bopping their way to the top, this classic has stayed in the hearts of everyone’s 2000s’ inner child.
