Lucy-Anne Daniels
At just twenty-three, vocalist Lucy-Anne Daniels is rapidly establishing herself as one of the most compelling young voices on the UK jazz scene. In 2025, she was named the winner of the prestigious Tina May Young Jazz Musician Award, with judges praising her “astonishing degree of rhythmic freedom and inventiveness… and an irresistible sense of sheer enjoyment”.
Growing up immersed in the vibrant sounds of gospel and jazz, Lucy-Anne is a natural performer and vivid storyteller. Blending her love of theatre with a deep reverence for music, her performances are rich with emotion, humour and intimacy, drawing audiences into a powerful sense of musical communion. She is widely recognised for her masterful control of melody and profound ability to interpret lyrics, delivered with a rich tone and playful musicality.
Despite her young age, Lucy-Anne has already appeared at the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, as well as leading jazz venues in Paris, New York and London, including Ronnie Scott’s. Her voice has been described as “mature beyond her years” (The Scotsman), marking her out as an artist of exceptional promise.
We are delighted to welcome Lucy-Anne back to GSAL, where she was a pupil until 2020. This performance offers a rare and exciting opportunity to experience an internationally rising jazz star in an intimate setting, and promises to be an incredible night of music-making. The evening will conclude with Lucy-Anne performing alongside young musicians from GSAL and other local schools, celebrating creativity, mentorship and the future of jazz.
