Anglers Country Park
Located 4 miles south-east of Wakefield, Anglers Country Park is a perfect place to explore for nature lovers, walkers, dog walkers, cyclists, picnickers – and not forgetting those little adventurers!
Once known as one of the deepest open cast coal mines in the country reaching a depth of 250 feet, Anglers Country Park has since flourished into a beautiful haven for wildlife including many migratory birds. Anglers Country Park has been awarded Green Flag status – recognising it as one of the best parks in the country. A central lake is surrounded by grassland, woodland and a wetland area known as the ‘Pol’ giving you an array of place to explore. What wildlife will you spot?
Take the little ones on an adventure they won’t forget! Purchase your Adventure Trail Activity Pack from the Visitor Centre and follow the Room on the Broom Trail to find the well-known characters from the story. We also have an adventure playground for burning off that excess energy!
Enjoy a relaxing stroll along the two mile lakeside path. The path around the lake is both wheelchair and pushchair friendly and electric mobility scooters are available free of charge for use within the park.
The Woodland Café offers the opportunity for a well-deserved break and the chance to grab some delicious food and a hot or cold drink.
The newly refurbished Visitor Centre at Anglers Country Park is open 10am – 4pm daily and has a great new exhibition space! Currently on show is an exhibition exploring the history and environment at Anglers Country Park and the legacy of Charles Waterton.
The brand new gift shop offers something for everyone; with small pocket money items, Room on the Broom merchandise, gifts and much more!
Throughout the year the Visitor Centre offers the opportunity to take part in many events and workshops both indoors and outdoors with something fun to do for all the family!
Parking charges apply between 9am and 6pm, 7 days a week.
