Claypit Lane Pocket Park

Our Pocket Park is a one acre nature reserve off Granhams Road with a variety of native flowers in a central grassland area surrounded by trees. It is of high biodiversity value with over 60 recorded plant species that provide food and shelter for bees, butterflies, birds and other wildlife. A former Parish Councillor, Pat Bateman, was instrumental in setting up this oasis and a memorial stone honours her work. The site was formerly used for the extraction of clay for making building bricks used in local buildings, hence it is officially known as the Clay Pit.
