Travelling by Train
Leeds train station is around a 500m (0.3 miles) walk from the Institute along Park Row, with pelican crossings on all junctions along this route. There is a slight upward incline to get from the station to the Institute, however the 19 and 19A buses run from outside the station (stop S7) to the Headrow.
Henry Moore Institute
Experience, enjoy and research sculpture from around the world, for free at Henry Moore Institute. Henry Moore (1898-1986) began his training as a sculptor in Leeds and wanted to give back to the city. While you are unlikely to see his work on display, you will discover exhibitions and events that encourage thinking about what sculpture is, how it is made and the artists who make it.
On the first floor is one of the world’s largest sculpture libraries where you can browse over 30,000 books, journals and ephemera in beautiful reading rooms.
The Institute’s newly refurbished entrance is now a place to meet your friends and browse the shop. Plus there’s always free activities for all the family to enjoy. Check their website for more details.
This venue is a part of the Visit Leeds Culture Around Every Corner Campaign, celebrating the diverse and vibrant culture of Leeds. Find out more at https://www.visitleeds.co.uk/culture-around-every-corner/
