Discover Cava with Vilarnau Cava
If Champagne is the king of sparkling wine and Prosecco its party-loving princess, where does that leave Cava, Spain’s most elegant fizz?
It’s certainly no ugly sister. In fact, Cava is one of Spain’s most celebrated sparkling wines. It’s created using the same traditional method as Champagne and deeply rooted in the vineyards of Penedès. But today, Cava is doing more than honouring tradition. It’s redefining it.
Join us this May for Discover Cava, a special series of tastings dedicated entirely to Cava and the vibrant winemaking culture of this remarkable Catalonian region.
This year, we’re excited to be joined by Vilarnau, a producer known for its beautifully expressive, organic Cavas that capture the character, freshness and finesse of the Penedès terroir. Together, we’ll explore five exceptional Cavas, each one showcasing a different style, expression and story from the region.
Guiding us through the tasting will be two special guests from the world of Cava: Eva Plazas, head winemaker at Vilarnau, and Hamish Bredin, Business Development Manager at Gonzalez Byass. Eva is one of the most exciting voices in modern Cava production, bringing a fresh perspective to this historic sparkling wine. Together, they’ll share insights into the vineyards, the craft and the innovation shaping the future of Cava.
Of course, great Cava deserves great food. Our Executive Chef Johnny Cliff and his talented team have created a five-course seasonal tasting menu, with each dish thoughtfully designed to complement the delicate bubbles, bright acidity and layered flavours of each Cava.
Expect an evening of discovery, conversation and exceptional pairings, a true taste of Penedès, right here in Yorkshire.
