Learn about his powerful career and his legacy at Temple Newsam.
Sir Edward Wood, Lord Halifax, was the last member of the Ingram family who inherited Temple Newsam from Emily Meynell-Ingram in 1904. He sold the estate to Leeds City Council in 1922. As a significant public figure on the national stage during the early 20th century, his experiences, decisions, and international roles left a complex imprint on British history.
