Millennium Mambo
Told from the perspective of a decade later, the film follows Vicky (Shu Qi) as she drifts through the pulsing, neon-drenched club scene of Taipei. Caught between a toxic romance with a possessive DJ and the quiet sanctuary offered by an older gangster, her journey becomes a trance-like meditation on transient youth, urban alienation, and the relentless flow of time.
Directed by acclaimed auteur Hou Hsiao-hsien (A City of Sadness, The Assassin), Millennium Mambo combines intoxicating cinematography by Mark Lee Ping-bing, an iconic electronic score by Lim Giong, and an unforgettable performance by Shu Qi. This film is rarely shown on the big screen — and this will be its first-ever screening in Leeds!
