An Evening with Janice Hallett
The legendary crime author whose debut book The Appeal took the book world by storm, is joining us as readers ready themselves for the much anticipated sequel to the CWA Debut Dagger Award winning book. If you haven’t already read a ‘Janice Hallett’, it’s time to introduce yourself to a writer whose standout style will change the way you think about the modern crime novel.
We’ll meet bestselling mystery novelist Janice for an evening event in September with her new ‘classic Janice’ – a book that’s sure to be a crowd-pleaser – twisty, insanely clever and truly laugh-out-loud. As well as being a Sunday Times bestseller, The Appeal became the Sunday Times’ Crime Book of the Year, with the newspaper referring to Janice as ‘The Queen of Tricksy Crime’. We can’t wait to read the next instalment!
About the Book
A New Play. Another Murder. Who Will Speak the Truth?
Returning to Lower Lockwood, THE SILENT APPEAL reunites readers with amateur thespians the Fairway Players who are starting rehearsals for their production of Agatha Christie’s The Hollow. Despite divisive new arrivals, countless petty jealousies and a near-fatal accident with the lighting rig, surely this will be their greatest show to date?
But someone isn’t going to make it to opening night. Could it be producer Sarah-Jane’s mysterious sister, lately arrived home after twenty years abroad? New member Lucas, whose shady business dealings may be his downfall? Or perhaps once-convicted murderer Issy Beck, recently acquitted but still up to her old tricks?
Lawyers Charlotte and Femi must sift through the emails, texts and police reports to identify the victim and find out why the person convicted of the murder refuses to speak out in their own defence… Will they uncover the truth in time? Will you?
