The Lighthouse (15)

1st August 2026

In the 1890s, Ephraim Winslow begins a four-week stint as a lighthouse keeper on an isolated island off the coast of New England, under the supervision of former sailor and elderly supervisor Thomas Wake. Wake is a grumpy, limping old man full of stories and superstition.

As the days and nights together pass, Winslow becomes haunted by strange and mysterious visions, and soon the isolation and the constant storms start to take their toll on them both. It is not going to end well.

After Robert Eggers brought us the dark and haunting folk tale The VVitch (2016), he followed up with a mind-twisting fever dream of a film. With his trademark period detail and wonderful black-and-white photography, it’s a story that’s both salty in nature and in attitude.
