Leeds Young Film Festival: Hola Frida
The early years of Frida Kahlo are brought to life in this colourful animation about being creative and embracing difference.
Frida loves in Coyoacán, Mexico with her beloved dog Chiquita. When faced with difficulties, she responds to them the only way she knows how: with overflowing imagination and creativity. Covering her early years after contracting childhood polio, Hola Frida! paints a vibrant picture of the tenacious little girl who would grow up to be one of the world’s most famous artists.
Get creative before the film with a fun colouring activity inspired by the characters of Hola Frida! Part of the LYFF Cine-Takeover at HPPH, for Leeds Young Film Festival 2026.
Please note the 11:30am screening is an autism-friendly screening in Screen 2. Find out more about autism-friendly screenings here.
