Absolute Beginners Pottery Throwing with Jeannie Waterhouse
The workshop is for people who have never experienced working on the potter’s wheel (throwing) before. You will be in an small group of no more than 6 people so you will receive plenty of help and guidance, you might be surprised by how much you can learn in this session! You can have as much or as little help as you want.
The Experience
You’ll be taught how to throw bowls and cylinders, understanding the main principles of throwing, such as centring, pulling up and removing your work from the wheel.
Event Details
What to bring: enthusiasm! And an apron. If you have long hair you might want to tie it back. False or long nails will hinder your ability to throw on a wheel effectively.
Result: You’ll create your own unique pieces of thrown pottery. Choose your best three pieces to keep. Due to the long drying process and the need for two firings, your work will be ready to collect 4 to 8 weeks after the session. You will be contacted when your work is ready to collect. Your work is food safe. It is recommended that you avoid putting it in the oven, microwave or dishwasher.
