Exhibition on Screen: Caravaggio
Mystery, intrigue, beauty, passion and murder shine a new light on Caravaggio in this dramatic biography. Five years in the making, this is the most extensive film ever made about the revolutionary artist, featuring masterpieces alongside testimony from leading experts around the world. With first-hand insight from the artist himself on the eve of his mysterious disappearance, the film reveals Caravaggio as never before.
Caravaggio’s instantly recognisable masterpieces, defined by dramatic light and intense naturalism, have captivated audiences for centuries. Beneath their surface lies a deeper mystery, with hidden self-depictions offering rare insight into the man behind the brush.
Co-directed by David Bickerstaff & Phil Grabsky.
