Hyde Park Jazz Club present Paper Daisies + an Open Jam
Hyde Park Jazz Club return for their weekly Thursday night jazz gig and open jam.
For the live set we have Paper Daises – who aim to incorporate elements of recent contemporary jazz into their music to create a fluid, expressive sound. With each instrument having their own defined space in the group, there’s a heavy emphasis on having a conversational nature to the performances.
They arrived at this style of music after realising they were all influenced by the unpredictable harmony, weaving melodies and lyrical drumming of late contemporary jazz, and are influenced by musicians such as Jonathan Kreisburg, Ari Hoenig, and Will Vinson.
Prior to this event downstairs at Hyde Park Book Club, they have joined forces with Leeds jazz legend DJ Lubi (Lubi Jovanovic) to present a special commission (by Lubi) for one night only bringing together two of the city’s favourite and best known jazz musicians paying homage to a living legend of Brazilian music presenting Música Universal – A Tribute To Brazilian Music Legend HERMETO PASCOAL by Fergus Quill/Gustavo Andrade & The Universal Music Ensemble.
