Orpheus
An award-winning fusion of South Asian and Western classical traditions reimagines Monteverdi’s legendary Baroque masterpiece.
Orpheus, a brilliant musician, descends into the underworld on a desperate quest to bring his beloved Eurydice back from the dead. Armed only with the extraordinary beauty of his song, he must persuade the powers of the underworld to grant him his heart’s desire.
Composer and virtuoso sitar player Jasdeep Singh Degun creates a unique union of singers and instrumentalists from the South Asian and Western classical traditions, bringing a fresh take to one of the earliest masterpieces in opera history.
Sung in Italian, Hindi, Urdu and other languages with English subtitles.
