International Mother language Day by Purobi
21st February is the International Mother Language Day. First proclaimed by UNESCO in 1999 and later adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2002, this day underscores the role of languages in promoting inclusion and achieving Sustainable Development Goals. The day also commemorates the Bangladeshis who gave life to protect the right for their mother tongue Bangla to be recognised by the oppressive state. Leeds based Purobi Bengali Cultural Society will be celebrating the day with multicultural program funded by the Leeds City Council. Further details can be found in the flyer. We look forward to welcoming you to this event.
