The Wicker Man (15)

11th July 2026

A deeply religious and devout Police Sergeant is called to the remote island of Summerisle in search of a missing twelve-year-old girl.

But the community of Summerisle do things differently. They teach of Christianity in passing, but their own beliefs are far more ancient. Lord Summerisle and his fellow islanders believe that their apple harvest is sustained by Old Gods and their own arcane practices.

What begins as a routine enquiry becomes something altogether more sinister and terrifying as Sergeant Howie bears witness to the islanders’ enigmatic rituals and ancient beliefs.

Alongside The Witchfinder General (1968) and The Blood on Satan’s Claw (1970) – the latter also screening as part of this double bill – The Wicker Man sits firmly at the apex of British folklore on film. Its legendary troubled production has only increased its status as a cult masterpiece, with an incredible soundtrack of folk songs and pagan imagery, leading to a truly unforgettable and iconic finale.
