For as long as we’ve had eyes to see the dark, we’ve filled it with stories. This is an evening that honours both the ancient myths that first gave shape to the universe, and the new writing that continues the same impulse today.

Travel from Egypt to the Arctic Circle and beyond: watch Nut swallow the sun each evening and give birth to it each dawn; follow Māui as he beats the sky into slowing down; walk the Milky Way with a grieving Celtic magician searching for his transformed nephew; and discover why the moon holds a rabbit that never stops grinding. Ancient trickster gods, Norse giants, and heartbroken heroes sit alongside brand-new poetry from Leeds writers reaching for the same stars.

Witness how the human need to reach for the heavens and make sense of the void is a tradition that is still very much alive today.
