Mik Artistik’s Ego Trip
Mik Artistik is a poet, performer, artist and comedian . With his compadre Jonny Flockton on guitar, and a selection of well heeled bass players, they hypnotise audiences with their special brand of joyous madness. Delightful, frightening, strange and hysterically funny, Mik throws shapes and straws, and croons like a dream sometimes. Jonny holds him in check with forceful, elegant and sublime guitar work. Iggy Pop proclaimed their song ‘Sweet Leaf of the North’ ‘the song of the decade’ on NPR, and often features the band regularly on his 6Music Show ‘Iggy Confidential’. Gideon Coe on 6music calls them “The best live act I’ve seen all summer”.
Martin Parr called them his ‘favourite band on the planet’.
They’ve delighted festival audiences all over. Since 2007 they’ve played every Glastonbury, and were featured on BBC coverage in 2019.
Their single ‘Plastic Fox’ was called a ‘Stone cold classic’ by Iggy and was featured on Channel 4’s ‘Random Acts’. The band have released eleven albums over a unique career that has seen them in such diverse settings as ‘The London Fashion Show’ and Batley Rugby Club, as well as supporting Faust, and Chas and Dave.
They’re a tonic and should be on the National Health!
