Victorian Circus Walking Tour of Leeds
Back by popular demand, Dr Steve Ward will lead his Victorian Circus walking tour of Leeds
Nineteenth century Leeds hosted many visiting circuses. Within the city centre, there were at least twelve different sites regularly used for circus performances. This informative guided Victorian circus walk will take participants to visit all twelve sites in the centre of Leeds that were used for circus during the nineteenth century. Some of these may have only been used on a small number of occasions, others were used for many years. The guided walk will stop at each location where further information will be given about the colourful circuses and performers who appeared there.
Meeting Point: The steps at the front of Leeds Grand Theatre.
Environment: The walk is quite easy city pavement walking with no steps involved. There are some inclines at points on the walk but these are not severe. Please note that there are no toilet facilities on this walk.
