The Victorian Circuses of Leeds
Leeds has a rich tradition in hosting travelling circuses. During the nineteenth century, the city was a favoured venue for visiting circuses.
Research has shown that there were at least twelve sites in Leeds used for circuses during this period.
Dr Steve Ward, a social historian and specialist in circus history, conducts this circular guided walk around the city centre, visiting the identified sites.
