Kill List (18)
Jay, an ex-soldier, turns into a hit man after leaving the military. With his best friend and fellow hit man Gal he accepts a contract to murder three people. What starts off seeming like a straightforward job, (as contract killings go) as their violent rampage progresses, their lives warp into something altogether more cryptic and nightmarish than they could have ever imagined.
Threads of British folk tradition, myth and ritual have remained a recurring theme in Ben Wheatley’s films such as A Field in England (2013), Sightseers (2012) and In the Earth (2021), and there are ingenious parallels to The Wicker Man itself, but never more terrifyingly so as in Kill List, which makes it the perfect late-night film for our Folklore season.
Largely filmed in and around Sheffield, Kill List is also screening as part of our celebration of Yorkshire Day!
