Gustavo Andrade & The Brasukas / Brudenell Social Club Leeds / FREE SHOW
After selling out Belgrave Music Hall in February with their annual Brazil Carnival Leeds party, Gustavo Andrade & The Brasukas are back in the city with a FREE ENTRY show on Friday, 6th March.
With a late cancellation a couple of weeks ago, Brudenell asked Leeds jazz/world music promoters DJ Lubi to host a last minute free entry show in the Community Room. With so many people unable to get into the sold out Brazil Carnival party, it had to be The Brasukas to give those people a chance to catch some of the Rio Carnival vibe from February. Also, if you were at the last party and loved it, here’s your chance to get some more samba magic vibes.
Expect a night of 100% Brazilian music vibes : samba, MPB (Musica Popular Brasileira), axé, forró and Brazilian soul. The band are fresh from their Brazil Carnival 2026 UK tour where they sold out shows in Nottingham, Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh and Newcastle. With three singers, three horn players, two percussionists alongside guitar, bass, keys, drums and Gustavo on lead vocals/percussion, it’s a big samba sound made for dancing.
If you love the music of Alcione, Djavan, Seu Jorge, Tim Maia, Leci Brandao, Ivete Sangalo, Sergio Mendes, Jorge Ben, Ed Motta, Gilberto Gil etc, you need to be at this show.
Once again, Gustavo and friends will do an early doors “roda de samba’ jam session on the dance floor, open to all musicians and singers who play/perform Brazilian music. This jam is how Brazilians get together in the homeland and across the world to sing and dance to popular samba songs.
DJ Lubi will keep things ticking over with some nice Brazilian beats past and present, with more focus on the MPB, bossa, samba rock and Brazilian soul/disco vibes rather than carnival flavours (though no doubt he’ll still be dropping some samba, pagode and axé).
Doors are 7.30pm. The “roda de samba” jam will start at 8pm with Gustavo and The Brasukas onstage around 9.15pm.
The show is free entry but to ensure entry (capacity 400), you can reserve a ticket. Just incase more than 400 turn up.
