Hannah James & Toby Kuhn
In a journey through sound, texture, emotion and rhythm, Hannah and Toby navigate paths of growth, discovery, darkness and light, exploring the dialogue of cello, voice, accordion and foot percussion in new and unexpected ways.
A highly acclaimed folk artist, Hannah James is widely regarded as one of the UK’s finest accordion players and clog dancers. She is one third of BBC Folk Award nominees Lady Maisery and also performs as part of Maddy Prior’s band.
Effortlessly blending, the duo play and dance through thoughtful tunes, soulful songs and joyful set-pieces, with Hannah’s vocal mastery underpinned by Toby’s unorthodox delivery, weaving intricate layers of harmony and melody.
